New Batman Arkham Game Logo Revealed?

Is this the next Batman's logo?

After years of speculation and months of teasing, we may have had our final glance of the new Batman game logo. All thanks to a lift.

James Sigfield, a games journalist over at Geeks WorldWide, posted the snap from the WB Games Montreal offices onto his twitter. The pictures show a different logo when compared to previous designs, as you can see below.

The new design is particularly interesting if we can trust current rumours that the next Batman game is a reboot of the Arkham series. Whether it will be a hard, soft, or - ahem - semi-reboot is not yet known, but a new take on the iconic bat symbol certainly hints at a change to the story and legend of the Batman.

Where Is The Bat?

That’s a more interesting question than it may appear. It was believed that the announcement for the next Batman Game - apparently based on the Court Of Owls - was imminent. However, after brief twitter teases no further communication has come from WB Games Montreal, who are picking up the main series reins from Rocksteady and returning to deliver their second Arkham title after the criminally underrated Arkham Origins.

The initial tease came just over four years after the release of Arkham Knight on the 21 September 2019, otherwise known as Batman Day. WB Games Montreal tweeted the following video which featured brief flashes of unknown crests, similar to an image tweeted in November 2018.

It was assumed that some form of announcement would be made at the Sony State Of Play address three days later, but when that date came and went with no announcement fans had to look forward. The Video Game awards became the next logical announcement window, backed up by a prominent leaker of such information SLCMOF. Alas, this was not to be either. More recent estimates from prolific leaker Sabi, of now-deleted New_WabiSabi twitter fame, approximation and end of 2020 release, although this too should be taken with a grain of salt.

So, as of this moment very little is concretely known. The previously mentioned Court Of Owls made their debut appearance in the rebooted New 52 comic run and their inclusion is mainly based off the tagged tweet earlier in this story.

The court, however, sits well as a formidable in-game adversary. The court was Bruce Wayne’s first major challenge in the new run - although future comics in the series revisited Batman’s year zero, canonically downgrading the owls, stripping them of the rosette for first villainous organisation Batman faced. The court was poised as a perfect match for Batman, able to compete physically using Talons, a group of unstoppable zombie assassins, and intellectually through manipulation and control.

It’s, therefore, no surprise that the logo in the lift is worthy of comment if for no other reason than an update on the project. It also seems unlikely that WB Games Montreal would simply stick any old design in their lift, although it could be a false flag to grab the attention of fans thirsty for more news on the Bat.

What do you think? Is this the new logo or are we just grasping at anything remotely related to the game? Let us know below.
