In more news that will upset people, Sony's new PSN Pass will not support rental games, meaning you will not be able to play the multiplayer part of the game. Basically all multiplayer rented games that require PSN Pass now become single player only games.
"If the €˜Network Pass€™ has not been activated, then it is possible for the consumer renting the game to access the online functionality. However, if it has already been activated, the consumer still has the choice to either play without online functionality or to purchase a €˜Network Pass€™."
This is very similar to what EA has done with their pass code system, where you also still need a pass code to play multiplayer games even for renting games. I love how Sony points out that we can still buy a Network Pass after we rent the game, which will probably cost more than actually renting the game! Again I understand why they are doing this, they want to curb used game sales and renting games (video game companies make minimal money off game rentals). However, for me personally if I can't afford a game or just want to try it, I wait until the price goes down on Amazon. Video game prices seem to be dropping more rapidly than they use to so I generally don't have to wait long to buy a game thanks to Amazon. For example,BioShock 2 is $10 new on the North American version of Amazon. The PSN Pass has been met with a lot of resistance (no pun intended) from fans. There are a lot of upset fans because they may have to change their gaming habits, if this PSN Pass becomes as widely used as I think it will be. My advice is wait until the game comes down in price on Amazon and buy it new. However, I do totally sympathize with people who need to buy games used and rent games because of low funds. Will this PSN Pass change the way you buy or rent games?

I have been playing video games all my life but not only that I enjoy discussing them just as much as I love playing them. Therefore after going through college to get a criminal justice degree I became a freelance video game writer.
