Nintendo Already Talking Next Gen Handheld
Nintendo not making another version of the 3DS.
When it comes to handheld gaming systems, Nintendo has always been at the top; however that doesn't mean they are immune to criticism. One of the biggest complaints about Nintendo and their handheld systems is the fact that they always seem to be working on the next iteration of the system. For example, the DS alone had three different versions of the system DS Lite, DSi and DSi XL. It can become a little annoying when you buy a brand new DS only to have Nintendo release a newer version of the system a few months later. It is actually one of the reasons I don't own a 3DS right now; I believed that Nintendo would eventually release a new version of the system (hopefully with dual analog sticks). But that doesn't appear to be the case according to Shigeru Miyamoto:
"I really feel like I'm satisfied with the 3DS hardware as it is. I feel like it's the best for this generation,"When asked about last weeks report that a new 3DS XL was in the works Miyamoto responded:
"What we're thinking about right now is probably going to be for a future generation of handheld."So the current 3DS is not going anywhere anytime soon if Miyamoto is to be believed. However, chances are he would not say anything even if they are working on a new version of the 3DS because sales would immediately drop for the current 3DS system. Do you believe what Miyamoto is saying about Nintendo only releasing one version of the 3DS, or do you think he is stalling for time until the next 3DS is ready?
