Nintendo Disappoints Fans By Refusing North America Release For XENOBLADE
Despite fans pushing the game to the top of the video game best-selling list on Amazon, Nintendo refuses to release game in North America. The Last Story and Pandora's Tower also won't see release.
For the past week there has been a rallying cry from long time Nintendo supporters to get three previously unreleased games ported over to the United States. The movement is called Operation Rainfall, whose goal is to get Xenoblade, The Last Story, and Pandora's Tower released in North America. Through Operation Rainfall the unreleased game Xenoblade was actually pushed to number one video game seller list on Amazon.com (IGN). However, despite their valiant efforts Operation Rainfall and many faithful Nintendo supporters apparently have had no effect. Nintendo released this statement:
"Thanks for being such incredible fans! Unfortunately, there continues to be no plans for NOA to release these 3 games right now."Unfortunately, Nintendo is still refusing to release these three games in North America; despite one of the strongest protests ever performed by gamers. In my time as a gamer I have never seen such effort put into a video game protest. There are complaints and meaningless internet petitions created all the time, but in this case fans actually put down the money for a game to show how much they wanted it. To actually push the game to number one on Amazon is a truly amazing accomplishment. I do understand that people who bought the game on Amazon will not be charged until the game ships. However, I dont ever remember a similar situation where a previously unreleased game with little to no chance of being released had this much support. In my opinion, this should be the last straw for many hardcore Nintendo fans. Honestly I feel extremely bad for people who want to play these games (myself included). Nintendo has no reason not to release them; their North American release schedule is blank this year outside of Zelda Skyward Sword. For hardcore Nintendo fans and Wii users there is literally nothing coming out this year outside of Zelda. It amazes me the patience some Nintendo fans have to put up with this lack of hardcore gaming support. This move by Nintendo all but shuts the door on the Nintendo Wii outside of Zelda Skyward Sword. Nintendo could have filled in some of the release gaps this year with those three games. Or at least the games could have held people over until the Nintendo Wii U is released. With the Wii U Nintendo is trying to get the hardcore gaming community back on their side. However, the refusal to release Xenoblade, The Last Story, and Pandora's Tower is looking more like Nintendo still doesnt care for the hardcore gamer. With that being said, you have to consider whether Nintendo was actually being serious when talking about bringing the hardcore gamers back at E3 with the Wii U. Or is it too late, and have enough Nintendo fans been burned by Nintendo again not supporting or listening to the hardcore gamers? One last note, Xenoblade is being released in Europe which makes this worse for Americans Nintendo fans because all Nintendo needs to do is unlock the game for North America and they could make tons of money.
