Nintendo Just Revealed A Brand New Pokémon
Yes, it is a nut.
It all started a couple of days ago, when a dataminer named Chrales, tweeted out new sprites which he found in the code of Pokémon Go, which where labeled Kecleon. However this sprites looked nothing like the Kecleon, which made some people say that it was just a placeholder and that the real Kecleon sprite was coming soon after.
But there was another strange thing surrounding these new sprites, the Pokédex number attached to this icon was #891 which is far off the last Zeraora's Pokédex number, which is currently the last Pokémon in the Dex. This led some people to speculate that it was actually a brand new Pokémon that Nintendo was about to reveal.
And indeed a few days after the 'leak' the mysterious individual started to appear in Pokémon Go, but when caught it always transformed into a Ditto. Later, Nintendo revealed the brand new Pokémon to be Meltan. In a video posted to the official Pokémon Youtube channel, you can see Professor Willow and Professor Oak, having a conversation about which Pokémon Willow is going to send to Oak today.
Willow then starts to talk about a Ditto who transformed into a, to him, unknown Pokémon. He shows the footage of the creature to Prof. Oak who claims he has never seen that Pokémon, but then screams that he has seen this unknown creature before in some ancient scribblings. He then goes on to say that it is the mythical Pokémon known as Meltan.
The official Pokémon site described the Pokémon in further detail. According to the site, Meltan is the Hex Nut Pokémon and is a steel-type Pokémon. It's height and weight have also been revealed by the site as well as, a short description of the Pokémon, describing its appearance and abilities.
What this new Pokémon might mean to the future of the franchise is currently unknown, but the mention of it being a mythical Pokémon sure makes way for loads of possibilities considering the plot and the setting of a possible future game. But we'll have to wait to see if any more news comes out in the near future.
