Nintendo NX: 9 New Rumours You Need To Know
8. Nintendo Are Going The PS Vita Route
One of the longest running pieces of speculation regarding what the NX might “be” involves some sort of console-handheld hybrid, in which the NX's “controller” is actually a portable system intended to replace the 3DS. Realistically, this is probably quite unlikely, given the fact it would risk tanking Nintendo's handheld success in an effort to boost console sales.
Indeed, a recent rumour suggests this isn't the case, but that there will be handheld gaming involve – just not at the cost of the 3DS. Supposedly the NX will have a screen controller similar to the Wii U, slightly larger and with a much better resolution. Like the PS Vita, it will be possible to stream games to it anywhere (unlike the Wii U which only had a range of several meters) using Wi-Fi.
The rumour claims that this concept developed from the fact that many Wii U games (and many unannounced Wii U games) are being ported to the NX, and that since they were designed with a screen-based controller in mind for gameplay and navigation, it seemed like a logical evolution.
