Nintendo Switch: 10 Third-Party Franchises We Need To See
9. Telltale
Where many studios find success on the back of one flagship IP, Telltale Games rose to popularity through a specific, repeated approach to storytelling and game design spread across several IP. At this point, the series whose cliff notes they're borrowing is a footnote to the real experience, namely the Telltale treatment. For the unfamiliar: Telltale games are narrative-driven adventures often couched in familiar mythos and always predicated upon player choice and the consequences of those choices.
And you know what? Nintendo could use some of that.
The house of Mario has never been particularly concerned with great storytelling, as evidenced by the many rehashed hero's journeys under their belt. At the very least, they don't have much of anything that so closely resembles visual novels like Telltale's works do. Sure, the 3DS has the delightful Zero Escape series, but the Wii and Wii U were pretty lacking here.
Having Telltale Games as a Switch "partner" could be a great opportunity to fill that gap, not to mention utilize the Switch screen to navigate Telltale's trademark menus and motions, which can get a little fiddly on the more traditional controllers of PS4 and Xbox One.
