Many aspects of the Switch feel like a love letter to both the simplicity of old school gaming, and how on consoles past, we never worried about things like optional HDR tweaking, custom button remapping or any number of other options that inevitably end up back on 'Auto'.

To that end, the Switch's 'System Settings' are incredibly easy to wrap your head around, including only the most essential of things like establishing a wi-fi connection, creating your new Nintendo Account, seeing how much internal data is left and registering any Amiibos.

As a system, the Switch doesn't bother with lengthy updates and tweaks to its firmware (something every Xbox One owner knows to be a pain), instead asking what resolution your TV handle and showcasing a number of helpful hardware tips, before rubbing its hands together and going, "Right then, GAMES!"
