Nintendo Switch: 8 Major Positives Nobody Is Talking About

4. Timed Monthly Freebies Encourages A Live Community

How many of the PS Plus games or Xbox's Games With Gold do you actually make a point of playing through or truly valuing? Because here's the thing with a free selection of four or more titles each and every month: They're extremely easy to try for half an hour or less, then discard forever.

There's no impetus to 'get your money's worth' when you didn't pay in the first place (outside of that initial yearly subscription), and by reducing the monthly freebies to some very specific titles each month, Nintendo are assumedly hoping to develop a 'live community' around using the Switch's monthly offerings.

You've already seen seeds of this mentality emerge from the likes of 'Double XP Weekends', Hitman 2016's timed Elusive Targets or For Honor's 'seasonal play' that stretches across multiple months.

By releasing classic NES and SNES games with patched-in multiplayer components and challenging scoreboards, it'll encourage owners to converse with one another and keep up to date on "What everyone's playing this month", building an ongoing sense of exclusivity and community around the system and Nintendo overall.
