Nintendo Switch Pokémon Stars Wishlist: 8 Things We Want To See
5. A Massive Move Tutor Expansion
Do you want a Blaziken with Dynamic Punch? A Swampert with Seismic Toss? A Slowbro with Counter? Well if so, I hope you still have your Gameboy Advance, because that’s the only way to get them.
The Pokemon series has always given players a great deal of freedom in terms of customizing their team’s move sets. From generation to generation (or even game to game), Pokemon learn different moves as they level up, can be taught new attacks with different TMs and HMs and can often visit move tutors to expand their arsenal.
Unfortunately, those offerings have changed repeatedly over the years have resulted in many different combinations being lost to history or made exclusive to specific games, forcing hardcore battlers to keep their old school DS Lites handy in order to experiment with different movesets.
Just check out Porygon’s page on Serebii and look at how many moves require GBA cartridge... or even a GBA-Gamecube link cable!
It’s silly that a Sylveon from Omega Ruby is inherently superior to a Sylveon from Pokemon Sun, due to the fact that one can learn Hyper Voice and the other can’t, and there’s one simple way to fix it. Add move tutors that make all those previously locked attacks available to modern Pokemon.
It’s a relatively subtle thing for the majority of players but for those that take their Pokemon seriously, this would be a genuine game-changer.
