Nintendo Switch Reveal: 9 Ups & 10 Downs
3. Super Mario Odyssey Looks Awesome
Here's something that undeniably pulled even the most cynical Nintendo fan out of their lull: a new Mario game, and it looks incredibly cool.
Sure, Super Mario Odyssey may not be much more visually accomplished than anything from the Wii U, but the sheer diversity of the locales (including a New York-style city-scape, a desert and a jungle) looks hugely appealing.
Also, the game will introduce Mario's sentient cap, which he can use both as a weapon and to traverse environments. The sizzle trailer furthermore showed off the ability to ride animals and a few of the presumed bosses.
Described as a "sandbox" title by Nintendo, it unfortunately won't be due until the ever-vague "holiday 2017" period, so expect a lot of fans to hold off on purchasing the console until then (especially with Zelda being available on Wii U).
