Nintendo's Next Console: 10 Ways To Blow Switch Out The Water
6. Less Reliance On Last-Gen Ports
While having more games is never a bad thing, the Switch library is absolutely bloated with ports, with certain make-overs of older games (Mario Kart 8, New Super Mario Bros Wii U) becoming as staple titles for the system as any built from the ground up for the Switch.
Indeed, most of the ports brought over to the Switch are great games that were overlooked upon their initial release due to the failures of the Wii U. This means that the Switch's successor having the same sheer number of ports is unlikely, given that the Switch is one of the best-selling consoles of all time.
Anyway, the problem wasn't so much the sheer amount of ports, as the fact Nintendo has the cheek to charge so much for them, with certain games being cheaper to buy for the Wii U alongside a second-hand Wii U console than investing in the Switch upgrade.
While the Switch is a fantastic port system, ultimately consoles should strive to be remembered for their original titles. Nintendo's current generation boasts its fair share of those for sure, but it would be great to see a bigger spotlight cast on original titles for its successor.
