Nioh: 6 Essential Tips & Tricks You Need To Know
You'll need all the help you can get.
Set in fifteenth century Japan, Nioh retells the real-life story of prolific sailor William Adams, who started out from small beginnings in England but would eventually become the first known Western samurai.
The game depicts Japan torn apart by war, as two rival rulers vie for power, spreading war and famine throughout the nation. Due to the carnage, monstrous Yokai from Japanese folklore have risen from the underworld, spreading throughout the country to terrorise the civilian population.
This guide will aim to introduce newcomers to the game of Nioh, detailing the basics of both combat and exploration, as well as providing a few useful tips and tricks in order to survive in war-torn Japan.

6. Don’t Forget To Use The KI Pulse
The KI Pulse ability can effectively recharge the stamina meter of William in a mere second, allowing us to constantly be on the offensive against enemies, instead of forcing us to back off as William’s stamina meter slowly recharges.
However, timing is crucial with the KI Pulse, as straight after the player has finished pressing the attack on an enemy, a bright blue aura will briefly surround William, while a white bar simultaneously replenishes the stamina now absent in the wake of the attack. During this time, the player can press R1, regaining any lost stamina that the white bar is covering, allowing William to both dodge enemy onslaughts, and continue to press the attack.
But, should the player leave it too long to press R1 and initiate the KI Pulse, the opportunity to use the ability will pass entirely, leaving the stamina bar to gradually regenerate entirely on its own. The key to pulling this off correctly is to watch the white bar refilling the lost stamina – and when it’s almost at the end of the lost stamina, press R1 and instantly regain the stamina covered by the white bar.
