No Man's Sky: 10 Coolest Things You Must Do

2. Get Lost; Really Lost

Hello Games

More than following a friendly ship to an unknown destination or jumping into a black hole to see where it takes you (or perhaps as a result of either) the best way to really get the most out of No Man's Sky's mass of possibility is to simply get lost in it.

Next time you're at a loss for what to do in the game, take your pulse engine and blast yourself as far as it'll take you into the deepest, darkest reaches of space. Then, when you slip to an exhausted halt, take a look around and see what you can find in your desperation for resource. Feedback from players suggests that the "best" planets for resources and loot tend to be the ones furthest away from Space Stations and well-populated areas.

Essentially the game is looking to reward the players who take on free exploration; it's easy to just move in straight lines of familiarity in No Man's Sky, but the real prizes are out in the deepest, darkest reaches of space.

From here, finding your way back to something familiar or already discovered is a tremendous feat, and one to take pride in - assuming you can manage it.
