No Man's Sky Reviews: 10 Early Reactions You Need To Know

6. Death Is Handled In The Same Way As Dark Souls

No Man's Sky
Hello Games
"The death penalty is light, too - there’s a corpse run to gather your stuff from where you were blown out of the sky, but both times when I returned to the site of my defeat my killers were nowhere to be found, so I simply picked up my goods and continued on my journey." - Dan Stapleton, IGN.

Word on the digital street is No Man's Sky is actually pretty easy - but if you do die, you'll drop all your loot and gathered items wherever you were standing.

This then means you need to make a beeline back towards your gravesite to retrieve any items (without dying on the way, or you'll then create another point with whatever dropped stuff you had, wiping out your original), making the first pile lost forever.

FromSoftware and Demon's/Dark Souls implemented this system across their games to great effect, and although we've seen copycat titles Bound by Flame and Lords of the Fallen 'steal' it for themselves, this is the first time I've seen it applied to such a vastly expansive game.
