No Man’s Sky: 10 Huge Changes That Finally Make It Worth Playing
8. A Mission Generator & Quest Log
One of the things where you just looked at No Man's Sky and thought, "How is this not in here?!", finally we have a bog-standard - yet always thoroughly necessary - mission board where players can pick and choose any number of quests to complete.
Thankfully, though you might assume that due to Hello Games' team size and the assets already embedded within NMS, each mission would be "go here, collect X, bring it back", the reality is a HUGE variety of content.
From tracking down wanted space pirates to missing people, scanning creatures to plundering caves for rare ore, each mission has a tangible reward - be it currency or material-based - that factors into your longterm goal of discovering your purpose and journeying towards the centre of the galaxy.
Also included is a neat quest log describing your character's mentality and thoughts on the current main mission, alongside breakdowns of the various alien races, their standings with one another, your place in the cosmos and a full tutorial on everything from farming to base-building.
You can now tick "What do you do in No Man's Sky?" off the list, as this lets you be everything from bounty hunter to intergalactic Pokémon Snap-style photographer.
