3. There's An Ever-Changing Economy
A major part of NMS involves mining resources that can be cashed in for Units, but the game also has a varied, ever-changing economy, where what's deemed valuable in one region can be virtually worthless somewhere else.
As such, you'll probably never fetch the hottest price possible for a given item (considering the ludicrous number of planets), and so often a commodity will sell better the further away you get from where you harvested it, considering the basic nature of supply and demand in commerce.
This should help the game feel more "alive" and lived in despite the fact you'll rarely be meeting other players. You don't get a single, static fee for your hard work: it will constantly be different.
