No Man's Sky: 13 Little-Known Facts You Need To See
8. Meeting Another Player Is Possible, But VERY Unlikely
It shouldn't be hugely surprising that your chances of running into another player in your entire playthrough of NMS are extremely remote, given the mind-boggling number of planets compared to how many people will ever actually play it. Even if you're on the same planet, they're vast enough that you may never see one another.
Instead, the multiplayer aspect of the game is involved more with leaving information about said planet (and naming it) for others to stumble upon, even though Hello Games have gone to the effort of putting PVP in the game, which seems ludicrously committed considering how most players will probably never get the opportunity to use it.
Though Sean Murray has said that a dedicated multiplayer component may be added at a later date, for now your human interaction will be extremely limited (and that's pretty much OK given the game's nature).
