6. Need To "Raise Your Standing" With A Race? Give Gifts

Whether it be at key points in the story or just because you want better trading prices at Space Stations, you'll need to up your Standing with whichever race is inhabiting your current system.

You CAN do this slowly by taking specific missions or learning words from Knowledge Stones, but keep an eye out for "Ancient Artefacts" on your scanner. These are quite often things like Vy'keen stones, Gek Charms or other high-end, tradeable items that will instantly boost your standing if you're in the first few levels of faction affiliation.

To put them to use, don't sell at Trade Terminals and instead talk to the relative race when inside a Space Station. After striking up a conversation with any creature you should get the option to "give gift", and there you go.

It'll certainly be enough to get through the story missions that require it - not to mention boosting reputation considerably when combined with missions and knowledge acquisition.
