With the sheer variety of heroes on display in Overwatch, most players don't jump at the chance to be Solider: 76 when they first boot the game up.

An intentional pastiche of the protagonists found in the likes of Call of Duty or Doom, 76 has the same skill set and weapon variety as the characters found in so many other first-person shooters.

But that familiarity actually works in the hero's favour, as it makes him one of the easiest characters to use both for returning and new players alike.

Plus, even though he might not be the most immediately appealing, the power of his weapons combined with his relatively quick mobility and satisfying ultimate make him one of the most well-rounded characters on the roster.

76 might not reinvent the wheel, but he proves that if something ain't broke, there's no need to fix it.
