Persona 3 Reload: Every Boss Ranked From Worst To Best

10. The Lovers

On the flip side of The Priestess, The Lovers boss is challenging for all the wrong reasons. The Lovers is the 5th boss of the game, and the second instance of having to fight two bosses in one night. But unlike the Emperor and Empress fight, you fight the Hierophant and Lovers bosses separately. And The Lovers is by far the more challenging of the two.

The Lovers, like The Hierophant, is a test of how well the player can juggle defending from/curing status ailments and dealing damage. All of The Lovers' attacks focus on afflicting you or your allies with charm, which makes them heal the boss and attack the other party members.

Every Persona boss requires some kind of preparation beforehand, even if it's possible to brute force your way through them. But The Lovers punishes you the most for not preparing in advance. If you don't have a surplus of items that cure Charm, plus at least one persona/party member with Patra on hand, then this fight is going to be a grueling slog.

The Lovers is Persona 3's Beginners Trap, a splash of cold water to the face to tell the player to prepare for everything. And while that is effective, it's not a very fun boss fight.
