PES 2016 vs FIFA 16: 8 Key Aspects Previewed And Compared

1. Goalkeepers

Goalie - the most important player on the pitch? Not in the video game world, he isn't. Neither FIFA nor PES have quite managed to capture the authoritative and crucial role of the goalkeeper to a football team, despite years of trying. In PES 2015, keepers felt robotic, with a limited number of save animations meaning that they were often unable to respond well to rebounds, or would knock away seemingly easy mid-height shots then unnecessarily go to ground as an attacker gleefully pounced on the ball. We do know that Konami is introducing more personality to each 'keeper. Given how well PES 2015captured player individuality, we're optimistic PES 2016 will be capable of finally bringing keepers to life. However, only after playing more of PES 2016 will we know whether goalies will respond better to those awkward, scrambling moments that football throws up. FIFA 15 suffered from its fair share of keeping calamities too, and EA Sports is bolstering the arsenal of animations available to keepers. No more lob-spamming either, as FIFA 16 keepers have finally evolved to handle those cheeky little dinks. Which will it be for you then? Will PES do enough to nick it, or will FIFA prove that it's learned its lessons after a lax last season and get the title?
