PES 2018 Demo: 7 Things We Learned

5. Pitches Feel Massive Compared To FIFA

One niggling issue with PES is that every match feels like it's played on the vast turf of Wembley. There's rarely (if ever) an occasion when tight pitches pose a problem or force you to switch up your tactics in PES. That's one advantage FIFA has over Konami's game, and it's deceptively crucial. After all, playing Watford away shouldn't feel like the FA Cup Final.

If you're used to the varied pitch sizes in FIFA, then you won't find PES 2018 satisfying. Of course, the full game could surprise us and introduce new dimensions for different grounds, but it's doubtful. The 2 stadiums available in the demo are Barcelona's Camp Nou and Borussia Dortmund's Signal Iduna Park. Both feel identical on the pitch.

That came as a disappointment. We wanted that contrast between the vastness of Barca's ground and the suffocating tightness of Dortmund's. Even when playing at Signal Iduna, it doesn't feel like the fans are right on top of you.

Sort this, Konami. We beg you.
