PlayStation declared war on unsightly cables when the PS3 launched with wireless controllers, but the umbilical cord still has to be reattached to power up the latest DualShock pads.
As the games industry continues on the fast-track towards a cable-less future, it makes sense that the PS5's DualShock 5 will boast wireless charging capabilities, like many of the latest smartphones.
Rather than plugging the pad in when that dreaded low battery message appears, users could simply plonk their peripheral on top of their console and watch it juice up.
PS5 Home thinks this is where we're heading, seemingly overlooking the benefits of age-old wires, like the option to continue playing while your pad powers up.
The rumours website also predicts that the DualShock is in for a major overhaul for the PS5 era, with new features including a built-in microphone and a mini screen touted as possible inclusions.
