10. Armed Robbers Use Game To Lure Players

It was only a matter of time before enterprising criminals attempted to use the app for material gain, and indeed, three armed robbers in O'Fallon, Missouri did just that, placing a beacon at a Pokestop in order to lure players to their location, often empty parking lots, where they were shaken down at gunpoint.

The trio, who were aged 16-to-18, were eventually arrested by police, however, and charged with first degree robbery, as well as becoming suspects in a series of similar robberies throughout Missouri.

Among the more sensible Pokemon-related notices issued by law enforcement so far, Missouri PD advised parents of young children in particular to exercise caution when allowing them to broadcast their location.
