For all its flaws, Pokémon Sword and Shield outdoes its predecessors in one crucial way: the evolution methods are absolutely the wildest thing in the entire world.

Take, for example, Sirfetch'd. The long-anticipated evolution of Farfetch'd, this leek-based warrior possesses one of the most surreal evolution methods to date: it requires that the Pokémon get not one, not two, but three critical hits in one fight.

There are myriad ways to achieve this, but the two most followed are either feeding the poor duck countless Dire Hits - an item which increases the chance of critical attacks - or having him learn a move that's more likely to create critical hits. Unless you're actively trying though, it's profoundly unlikely that you'll ever see this fencing fowl in your team - which is a crying shame, because he's one of the best in the game.
