Pokémon: 10 Dumbest Gameplay Features Of All Time

2. A Single Save File

Since day one, Pokémon games have never allowed their players to have more than one save file on the same game cartridge. At first this pretty much always feels sufficient; why would you ever want to abandon your epic adventure and focus on another saved journey instead?

But when you suddenly get a glimpse of a friend's game and see that they picked a different, perhaps better starter then you have to question whether you've been making all the right choices. What if the grass is greener on the other side? Well the only way to find out is to erase everything you've done and start afresh. No second save, not alternative options. It's apparently all or nothing where Pokémon is concerned!

There's an old joke that suggests these games should always have given players three save files for the starter Pokémon: one for Charmander, one for Squirtle and the third for your other Charmander.

Here's hoping that that will become a reality someday.
