Pokémon: 10 Pokédex Entries That Were Absolute Lies

9. Magcargo

Pokemon Pokedex Lies
Nintendo

The Pokedex Entry:

‘’Magcargo's body temperature is approximately 18,000 degrees F. Water is vaporized on contact. If this Pokémon is caught in the rain, the raindrops instantly turn into steam, cloaking the area in a thick fog.’’ - Pokemon Saphire.

In reality:

Okay, 18,000 degrees fahrenheit is a big looking number, but how hot is it? Could it possibly be true? Well, for a little perspective, lava flows in Hawaii can get as hot as 1,600 degrees fahrenheit. So Magcargo is burning over eleven times hotter than molten rock! That’s around twice the temperature of the surface of the sun! In fact, Magcargo just being alive anywhere near you would guarantee at the very least a rather pressing need for factor 10 million sunscreen.

I’m sorry, I’m just not buying it.
