Pokédex entry from Pokémon Sapphire – “If a traveller is going through a desert in the thick of night, Cacturne will follow in a ragtag group. The Pokémon are biding their time, waiting for the traveler to tire and become incapable of moving.”
Imagine walking through the desert in the pitch black, something that isn't that uncommon in the world of Pokémon apparently, finally submitting to exhaustion, only to see a group of cacti surround you. Thankfully the Pokédex stops short of telling exactly what these creatures do to the paralysed individual, but it doesn't seem like it would be very nice.
