Pokémon Presents August 2021: 5 Biggest Announcements

What's new in the world of Pokémon ?

The Pokémon Company likes to host their own press conferences outside of the regular Nintendo Directs.

It makes sense for a myriad of reasons. Pokémon is the biggest media franchise of all time so it can afford to advertise itself without help from Nintendo. Also, there is just so much new content related to the franchise released every year that Nintendo probably doesn't want to clog up their Directs with a bunch of new Pokémon titles, as some people just don't like the series.

Luckily for those who do like the series, the latest Pokémon Presents offered a ton of new 'Mon related information.

Yeah, there wasn't a new game announcement but with the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond, and Pokémon Shining Pearl did anybody really expect one? It's unlikely that they will try to hype up something like generation nine until they've finished hyping up the games that are coming out in the upcoming months.

The thing is, we got so much exciting information on games that we already know exist that it doesn't really matter that we didn't get any new game reveals. This Pokémon Presents was awesome even without generation nine.

5. Post-Launch Content For Pokémon Unite

Pokémon throwing their hat into the MOBA ring was a risky move that appears to have paid off.

Pokémon Unite is doing really well. Not as well as something like League of Legends mind you, but it's a nice alternative for those who are new to the genre and don't want to spend the rest of their life learning the complexities that the bigger MOBAs offer.

The thing is if the game is to survive then it's going to need good post-game support. This is something that the developers seem to be aware of as we're getting more content in Pokémon Unite with the upcoming additions of Mamoswine and Sylveon.

Beyond that, we also got new information regarding the upcoming mobile phone port of the game. Releasing September 22 2021, the mobile phone port allows you to play with those on the Nintendo Switch which is always neat.

Finally, you can now pre-register for the phone version. If 2,500,000 people pre-register then everybody who plays the game will get a Pikachu Unite License and if 5,000,000 people pre-register then all Pokémon Unite players will get a festival style Pikachu.
