Back in 1989, Satoshi Tajiri conceptualized a video game idea that would expand all the way to becoming one of the most popular entertainment franchises in the world, let alone the highest-grossing media franchise of all time.
Seven years later and Tajiri's vision was realized with the Japanese release of Pokémon Red and Green. A solid quarter-century later, it is safe to say that Satoshi put the eggs into the correct basket an entire generation before breeding eggs was even a thing in Pokémon.
Across those 25 years, that initial bunch of Pokémon would become known as the original 150 (+ Mew) of eight different Pokémon generations. As of the middle of 2021, there exists 898 different species of Pokémon. It is very likely that the next generation of Pokémon will put the grand total of collectible creatures into the quadruple digits.
With this immense number of Pokémon currently in existence, it can be difficult to remember those last few corners of the PokéDex in that one generation you didn't play that much. To those of you who think you can overcome this, which of these Pokémon are NOT real?
