A staple of gen III and their remakes on the 3DS, Pokémon contests would be a welcome return.

Hungry for the series to add new features, Ruby and Sapphire introduced an alternative to battling. The four moves a Pokémon has are still used, but each one has a unique feature as the trainer and their Pokémon attempts to dazzle the judges with their impressive display of moves compared against three other trainers. The depth of gameplay comes from the different affects each move can have like affecting the opponents' appeal.

A trainer can enter their Pokémon in one of the five categories: beauty, cool, cute, tough, or clever.

The huge arenas are a perfect setting to bring some flare back. Sword and Shield fans are begging for more side activities to participate in, and online battle tournaments aren't cutting it. Taking advantage of the Switch's power, bringing back contests would help curtail the criticisms over the look of the games. Dynamaxing could add needed variation, or different arenas located around Galar could specialize in a different aspect of the contests.

This feature is a long shot, but it could be implemented well and naturally into the games.
