Pokémon Sword & Shield: 10 Gigantamax Secrets You TOTALLY Missed

1. Centiskorch

Centiskorch is a fire and bug type that has multiple influences to its design.

When it grows into its Gigantamax form, it becomes a lot longer, but have you ever wondered why Centiskorch coils in the way it does whenever it attacks in this larger form?

The answer lies in how central heating works in the UK, compared to the rest of the world.

Heating in the US and other countries is done using larger heating systems that transport air through the same vents that an air conditioning system might use. In contrast, houses are smaller in the UK, and the country itself is fairly far north of the equator.

Therefore it is more space efficient for houses to use radiators, which look like Centiskorch attacking in its Gigantamax form.

Also, notice the little rings underneath its belly?

These light up as a Gigantamax Centiskorch attacks. They look a lot like a cooker top (or a "hob", as we Brits call it). The metal of all electric hobs glow red when hot, while halogen hobs glow red to show that the ring is on.

Either way, Nintendo really did their homework for the first UK-inspired Pokémon, and these references are supremely nuanced, to say the least.
