Prey 2 Is Not Cancelled... But It Is Delayed

It has been a month since rumors started floating around that Prey 2 had been cancelled. After a month Bethesda has finally spoken up about the Prey 2 cancellation rumors and as of right now the game has not been cancelled; but the game has been delayed past 2012. Here is Bethesda's official statement on the game:

"The delay is due to the fact that game development has not progressed satisfactorily this past year, and the game does not currently meet our quality standards Prey 2 has shown great promise and we regret disappointing our fans. We have made a substantial investment in game development to deliver the experience fans want. We are determined only to release the AAA game that fans rightfully expect, and are unwilling to compromise our quality standards to meet a release schedule."

Prey 2 made a huge splash at last years E3 and basically was one of the biggest surprises of the show, everyone wanted seemed to love the game. So I was extremely worried when the rumors started floating around that the game had been cancelled. It became even worse when weeks went by and Bethesda had not denied the rumors; I had assumed that the game was actually canned because of the lack of denial. I am very relieved that Prey 2 is still in development; my guess is that during the time between the rumors and today Bethesda was actually deciding whether or not to cancel the game. Because from the statement they made it sounds like Bethesda is pretty unhappy with the way development has been going on the game so they could have been close to actually cancelling the game.
