PS4: 10 Crucial Features Sony Must Implement In 2016
6. External Headset Volume Control
Sometimes - or in this writer's case all the time - you don't want your online gaming overlaid with the relentless din of other players through your headset. Even if you're playing offline, you ideally want to have precise control over the noise coming from your headset at the press of a button. Currently, you need to go to the PS4 audio settings to adjust the volume of your headphones or mute them altogether. If you're using standard 3.5mm headphones, then you won't be able to use the controls on the headphones themselves to tweak your game volume. The only alternative to going to the Audio Settings menu is by using in-game audio settings, which vary from game to game and aren't something you really want to fiddle around with when trying to block out your opponents' jeering during extra-time in Rocket League. Audio is the kind of thing you want to be able to play around with immediately and in a way that doesn't break you away from your gaming. Physical headphone controls have worked with phones and MP3 players for years, so maybe the console claiming to be the king of video games should step up too, hmm?
