PS4 Pro: 10 Ongoing Mistakes That Just Cost Sony This Generation
7. Even If 4K Takes Off, Sony Aren't Prepared
In what's got to be one of the most awkward blunders this generation, Sony have to sell you on the concept of 4K resolutions being 'the future'... whilst not having a console that can pull it off natively.
Yup, despite its increased price and song n' dance presentation, the PS4 Pro can't actually play Ultra HD discs. It can stream 4K services and upscale titles upwards, sure, but let's say 4K becomes the new Blu-Ray, the Xbox One S will play all your new movies, whilst the PS4 Pro will not.
Honestly, it feels like such a major oversight, you can just imagine some Sony exec looking over the parts requisition form for the new machine and asking, "And we've got the UHD drive, right?", only for a new worker to stutter, "Errr..."
"We don't have the 4K PLAYER for the system we're selling 4K TECHNOLOGY on?!", "Well, I just thought it would be in there anyway, y'know? Like it has to be? So I didn't ask for it", "...Oh... oh god."
