PS4 Vs. Xbox One: Which Console Won E3 2016?

1. Conclusion

Sony

It was a good showing from both belligerents at E3 2016. Microsoft was right to focus on delivering hardware, and some of its software announcements for the console, like Xbox Play Anywhere, were inspired and left Sony without answer.

Likewise, Microsoft is continuing its resurgence with indie developers after a disastrous start for the Xbox One, and its indie line-up at E3 2016 is easily its best one yet. Games like Inside, Cuphead and We Happy Few simply have no equal in anything shown off by Sony this year.

But, when all is said and done, the most important thing in a console is to have fantastic games that you can't get anywhere else. Sony offered nothing in the hardware department, because it's already set on that front. The PSVR is coming out soon, and the VR line-up looks fantastic, while all Microsoft could muster was announcing that 'VR will eventually happen on the XBO'.

And the PS4 exclusives really speak for themselves. Where the Xbox One wasn't just sticking with routine sequels, its new IPs didn't look terribly inspiring, while Sony seems determined to give gamers something new - right down to a completely redefined God of War, featuring Papa Kratos.

Winner: It was a close battle, but Sony edges out this E3. With that said, the Xbox One is a more versatile console than ever, and its increasing interconnectivity with Windows makes it one to watch.
