PS5: 10 Features It MUST Have
8. Native 4K On Every Major Game & 4K Blu-Ray Support
The reality of the PS4 Pro? It's not THAT much of a step up.
In fact, like how many Xbox One X owners have pointed out, it's not really handling 4K "the right way". Only a fraction of titles render in native 4K, as opposed to being up-rezzed, supersampled or done through checkerboard rendering.
Even God of War doesn't run in native 4K, and Red Dead Redemption 2 actively runs far worse when attempting to hit a 4K resolution through checkerboard up-rezzing, producing a noticeably blurrier image. It's honestly enough to make you delve into the Pro's settings and put the resolution back to 1080p, defeating the point of upgrading in the first place, at least for that game.
In short, there's a reason tech whizzes are praising the Xbox One X, and though Sony's half-step system can produce gorgeous upgraded visuals for one in a handful of titles, once you drill down to the specifics, it barely lives up to what's being advertised.
On PS5, we need not only the requisite horsepower to get around these half-baked approaches at a 4K image, but for the vast majority of games to be supported at their highest possible outputs.
As a cherry on top and something of a peace offering, like the PS2 being a DVD player and the PS3 handling blu-rays, PS5 should come with 4k blu-ray support out the box. Another baffling omission from the "Pro", and a mistake Sony can't afford to make again.
