PS5: 10 Iconic PlayStation Franchises Sony Needs To Revive
8. Klonoa
Klonoa: Door to Phantomile was, all the way back in 1997, one of the first PlayStation games I'd ever played. Coming off the back of platformers from the SNES, it fit like a 32bit glove.
Its cute graphics and easy gameplay gave way to the titular Klonoa becoming a mascot for Namco, as he went on to spawn a sequel for the PS2 in 2001. Granted, it did shift allegiances in later years to Nintendo, but to a lot of players, it'll always be a Sony franchise at heart.
Barring a webcomic and a cancelled film adaptation, not much has been heard of the whatever-Klonoa-is and his adventures in the world of Lunatea.
Well, until last year, that is...
A trademark was registered for a "Klonoa of the Wind Encore" in Japan... but that's all we know. Could it be a return to the brand it started on? Or has it been fully Nintendo'd?
Personally, I'm hoping for the former. If Crash and Spyro can ignite all that nostalgia, why not let the long-eared cat/dog hat wearing Klonoa make a triumphant return in their wake?
