9. Enhance As Many PS4 Games As Possible
Last generation, Sony benefitted from the lack of backwards compatibility by remastering a host of PS3 titles to make them playable on modern systems. However, with the news that PS4 games will be playable on the PS5, Sony will have a hard time selling a new version of a game to consumers that they can already play on the system anyway.
If Sony are willing to put the effort in to enhance their PS4 exclusives for the PS5, either through graphical upgrades or by unlocking the frame-rate, then it could breathe new life into many of these games. The move to the next generation may be easier to stomach for many if they know that they still have the entire PS4 exclusives library looking better than ever ready to go, especially for Xbox players who may have felt they missed out this generation.
In 2022, if someone getting a brand new PS5 knows that they can also get Spider-Man for £5 on the PS Store without having to worry about it looking like a last-gen product, then Sony can make an entirely new market for themselves, while also heavily expanding the line-up of games they have to draw consumers away from the Series X.
