1. 3D Sound Might Be A Game Changer

One of the most surprising things to come out of the PS5 details is the focus on sound.

Whilst most console generations like to focus on making the graphics more and more impressive, it seems like Sony might be branching out a little bit and trying to improve the sound too.

It's specifically mentioned in the Wired article that the next PlayStation will have an AMD chip that supports 3D sound. This wouldn't require any extra peripherals and would supposedly mean that audio can come at you from all around.

This is very interesting when you consider that Sony haven't really ever tried anything game-changing with sound before.

In fact, none of the main consoles have ever really done that, and whether or not this is specific to the PS5, it does show us that the next generation is going to be doing some brand new things.
