Quantum Break: 12 Easter Eggs, References & Secrets You Must See

Shawn Ashmore plays the lead - of COURSE there's an X-Men reference.

As you can probably tell from the incredibly mixed critical response to Quantum Break (a game I gave three stars to), it's the kind of thing destined to stand the test of time as an ambitiously flawed experiment; loved by few and at least admired by the rest. It's an L.A. Noire, a Heavy Rain, something many critics love for making incredible leaps forward for the industry, but a game that just doesn't stick the landing with enough confidence to really make a lasting impact.

That said, there are a ton of things to see and do. Remedy have always been an incredibly gifted studio when it comes to visual flair and displaying stylistic influences - as well as paying tribute to other franchises and a couple of their own.

In this regard, Quantum Break is no different, and even if the dialogue and occasionally flat plot revelations don't hit home, you'll have a blast finding references and nods to everything from X-Men to Office Space.

Note: Everything is spoiler-free.

12. "What Are You, Some Kinda Goddamn X-Man?!"

Remedy

One is the taxi driver that initially drops you off at the beginning of the game; he's a pretty happy-go-lucky guy, and come the point you have to demonstrate stopping time itself to zip through a broken gate, he'll remark with "Holy sh*t, what are you, some kinda goddamn X-Man?!", before saying it's awesome.

This is less a nod and a full on headbutt to the fact Shawn Ashmore is best-known for his role as Iceman in the X-Men films, and it's great Remedy made it known so early on.
