5. Dark Soul 2: Scholar Of The First Sin

'First Sin' is a remastered version of Dark Souls 2 but it's not just a simple port to current-gen consoles (that also happens to run at a lush 60 fps). Due to the initial games rushed development cycle, this gave the developers a chance to go back and fix specific flaws, as well as dynamically remix the gameplay - so much so, it deserves it's own (higher) spot on the list.

From Software basically took the mandate of fans scoffing that the original version was too easy and threw them the finger; enemy placement and their quantity have been escalated, and new and tougher bosses have been added in unexpected places. It makes for a challenging experience that feels like a stronger, more confident game.

Also, the ridiculously brutal DLC levels have been intertwined into the campaign from the jump. Regardless of the average aspects of the main game, the DLC ends up redeeming several flaws - including some incredible level design - so it's on-disc addition is a worthy move.

Conclusively though, this still can’t fully repair the original games major potholes but does a decent job of glossing over them at least; adding up to a much more muscular version of the game they intended.
