Molecule was founded by several ex-Lionhead Studios members, exiling from Microsoft territory into a Sony development deal.

Their first creation was the ridiculously charming LittleBigPlanet. As a 2D platformer, it was okay, but as an innovative and accessible level-building tool, it was mind-blowing. It also birthed Sackboy, the PS3's official mascot, and Sony purchased them in 2009.

Next, LittleBigPlanet 2 was a success but an attempt at creating a killer app for the PS Vita, with Tearaway in 2013, was sadly a lost cause, despite great reviews (at least there's a solid PS4 port).

This whole game generation, Molecule has been tinkering away on perhaps the most ambitious game project released... ever. It came out of Early Access this year, and it's called Dreams... you should play it.

It's a one of kind gaming experience, plus one of the most accessible game creators on the current market. Molecule is seriously supporting it for the long-run... in fact, just recently, they've made the entire thing playable in VR.

So, whilst they aren't a company as shiny as your triple-A earner, they are innovators, bursting with imagination and likeability, resulting in a one-of-a-kind gem in Sony's repertoire.
