Ranking Every PlayStation Developer From Worst To Best

4. Media Molecule

Little Big Planet
Sony

Notable Games: LittleBigPlanet 1-2, Tearaway: Unfolded

In Development: Dreams

Made up of several ex-employees from Microsoft’s Lionhead Studios, this UK developer gave the PS3 the adorable Sackboy and one of its definitive titles with LittleBigPlanet. As a platformer it was so-so, but as a game that let users literally build their own levels and post them online - it was innovating and full of value.

The studio then attempted to give PS Vita a reason for existing with Tearaway; although it is one of the devices highest regarded titles, the limited userbase can only do so much - which made an eventual PS4 port all the more welcome.

For much of this generation, Molecule has been occupied with a ridiculously ambitious project, called Dreams. It proposes to take things established in LittleBigPlanet a step further, by letting players create actual full-blown games within a lush looking dream world.

It's a concept that has taken years to make and one that most are sceptical can be pulled off. Regardless, you have to admire Molecule for not resting on their laurels and pushing the boundaries of their talent - let's hope their big gamble pays off...
