Ranking Every Quantic Dream Game From Worst To Best

4. Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy (2005)

Detroit Become Human
Quantic Dream

This was Quantic's first foray into creating a new type of gaming experience; it earns respect as the sub-genres brave baby steps - even if it stumbles all over the place.

The plot is quite fun for the first two thirds, holding an enticing level of zany unpredictability with the gamer never sure what movie genre Cage will throw at us; Hitcockian rollercoaster, psychological thriller, cop murder mystery, supernatural horror - heck, even Matrix-style action movie. Sadly, it all crumbles in the third act, unable to answer the billion questions its plot proposes and decays into ridiculous nonsense.

Gameplay-wise it's painfully misguided; the QTA sequences slap a confusing colour-wheel over the screen as major things are happening - forcing you to click buttons in random sequence instead of reflecting what is actually occurring. It literally makes some parts downright unplayable and is a total contrast to the 'immersive' cinematic experience they were going for.

The game itself is no doubt a ground-breaking experience, with the championed cult status leaving a major mark on the industry till this day - yet judging it in retrospect and on its own merits, it’s just not a rewarding or enjoyable experience.
