Bought by Xbox in 2018, Labs specializes in the zombie survival games, the State of Decay franchise.
The first installment released on Xbox 360, it was flawed and a little rough-around-the-edges but had enough enjoyable concepts amidst its lower points, and grew a small cult following with gamers hopeful the next go-around would be improved.
There was less sympathy when the sequel dropped on Xbox One though, as it felt just as janky, compromised, and graphically low-fi as the first. The recent Juggernaut Edition redeemed some of the issues, but it still a clear-cut disappointment.
Now that Labs are full-time employees of Microsoft, one hopes they can deliver the refined and polished experience the franchise has the potential to be...here's hoping.
