Easily possessing one of the most detailed and perfectly realised open-worlds in decades, Mafia III's take on 1960s America is one brimming with cultural commentary, a main character who ostensibly embodies turning the tables on racial prejudice, and backs the whole thing with a soundtrack that rivals the mighty Vice City.
Yes, it's that damn good.
Gameplay-wise, many have been quick to hop on the "It's too repetitive!" train, which is a fair criticism depending on how much you can get sick of a solid third-person shooter. Personally, I had a total blast, and whether I was interrogating mini-bosses to extort them for cash or breathing in the phenomenally well-told story, I'd say don't let this exemplary entry in the open-world crime genre pass you by.
