Metacritic Score: 79 (PC) The Verdict: If you still need proof that video games can aspire to complex humanistic ideas, look no further than Ryan and Amy Green's devastating adventure game, based on the very real struggle they faced when their late infant son Joel was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Through a series of short, surreal chapters, we come to learn both the turmoil and beauty that assailed the parents as they cared for their son, with levels ranging from simple, observational dialogues to over-the-top, Mario Kart-esque racing portions. While incredibly brief and likely too emotionally taxing for some tastes, it's hard to argue with the raw, devastating emotion on display. For anyone interested in the potential of the video game medium, it's an absolute must-play. Just bring tissues.
