The culmination of a half-decade's worth of storytelling was one thing, but this was Bungie firing on all cylinders. The sandbox approach to Halo's combat was perfected as more vehicles and weapons were added, some of the best maps in the franchise encouraged various ways to win, and the likes of Forge and Theatre modes kept people coming back for years.
